Tools and Essentials Starter List

This is a list of the minimum essentials. Kitchen tools are great gifts to hint for, so you build your collection from here.

  • A small non stick omelet pan (teflon, cast iron, carbon steel)
  • a 10” or 12” skillet with lid
  • a pot to boil water in
  • a sauce pot
  • a pie plate
  • a cookie sheet/ baking sheet
  • set of mixing bowls
  • aluminum foil
  • plastic wrap
  • quart size and gallon size freezer bags
  • set of assorted plastic storage containers
  • cutting board ( as large as possible)
  • wooden spoon
  • turning spatula
  • mixing spatula
  • 2 good knives –   chef’s knife, paring knife
  • colander
  • bench scraper ( aka pastry or dough scraper)
  • slotted spoon or spider
  • tongs
  • wire whisk
  • set of measuring cups

  • 2 cup pyrex liquid measuring cup
